Narrative Description of Project:Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, located in Embakasi, a suburb of Kenya’s Capital City, Nairobi, is one of the busiest aviation facilities in Africa, serving more than 7 million passengers annually. Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is implementing Phase 1 of the New Greenfield Terminal at JKIA, Nairobi.
The primary objectives of the National Airports System Plan (NASP), carried out by Louis Berger Group in Association with Runji & Partners, Consulting Engineers, were for guiding Kenya’s aviation industry anchored on vision 2030 and making the best use of existing airport facilities. The construction of the new facility aims to improve the airport’s capacity for growth and operational efficiency as well as enhance safety and security.

Description of Actual Services Provided by your Staff:It is the intention of KAA to make JKIA the Aviation Hub of the region.

Following the successful completion of the National Airports System Plan, Louis Berger, in association with Runji & Partners Ltd., were selected to provide consultancy services for construction supervision and Co-ordination of the Design Build Contract of the Greenfield Terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Consultancy Services commenced in November, 2013                                                 .
On completion, the new 178,000-square-metres terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will comprise a central passenger processing unit with a provision 60 Check in Counters an airside concourse with 32 contact gates equipped with passenger boarding bridges, 8 remote airline lounges, baggage-handling systems, staff offices and concession areas 60 check-in positions, 32 contact and 8 remote gates, along with the Landside and Airside facilities                                                                                                .
The expansion of the facility is expected to ultimately increase the airport’s handling capacity to 20 million passengers annually while boosting the airport’s status as a regional hub of international standardCountry: Kenya   Location within Country: Nairobi, Embakasi
