KIBERA URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION PROJECT
An agreement between Nairobi City Council and three donors (French Development Agency, Department for International Development –UK and the World Bank for community infrastructure) was reached in 1999 to develop the Kibera Urban Environmental Sanitation Project.
A contract for consultancy services was awarded to a joint venture including Seureca, BURGEAP and Runji & Partners Ltd. It encompassed studies and services for identification, preparation and implementation of the trunk infrastructure, under AFD funding. The Master Plan for trunk infrastructure prepared by the consultancy identified priorities for the community as Access roads including street lighting, Water supply and Environmental Sanitation (run-off drainage, waste water, excreta and solid waste management)
